Building The Right Workplace Culture: The Cloud Peritus Story

Creating a company culture that resonates with its employees is one of the most fruitful things that businesses can do. In 2015, Shiva Rajgopal, an accounting professor at Columbia Business School, met with three co-authors from Dukeâs Fuqua School of Business and surveyed more than 1,400 North American CEOs and CFOs over 13 months. Their goal was to understand how culture impacted the organization.
What they found in the survey might change the way organizations work for years to come. More than 50% of the respondents interviewed said that the corporate culture at an organization influences productivity, creativity, profitability, firm value, and growth rates, while a mere 15% stated that their firmâs corporate culture was where it needed to be.
For a company to build a distinctive culture, hiring is one of the most crucial factors to consider. âWe want to hire the best people,â says Kevin Chan, our Senior Salesforce Engineer. We have at least 2-3 technical rounds of interviews by the most senior developers who hold the coding assessments followed by an interview with the senior executives.
Itâs important that the people who are hired into an organization resonate with the companyâs values and would participate in making it a better place.Â

Work Culture At Cloud Peritus
When asked why he chose to join Cloud Peritus, Kevin Chan said that he was intrigued by the way Siva Ramesh, our SVP and Chief Architect, cared about his customers, having worked with him in the past. Chan believes that being extremely customer-centric helps businesses grow because it is not about the expertise but how it helps the customers reach their goals that truly matter.
However, we are not just customer-centric, we are people-centric. We built systems that enable a boutique-esque experience for all employees, allowing them to learn directly from the mentors. A close-knit group of people that work together towards a common goal needs the right communication, collaboration, and understanding to perform efficiently. Thatâs why, at Cloud Peritus, we create a familial atmosphere for a personalized and affable experience for our employees where they can grow and thrive not just as our employees but also as individuals.
Thatâs not all.
We also have a flat hierarchy at our organization which means there are no management layers. This encourages good coordination and speedy communication between employees for delivering better results faster.
We believe that every employee should be encouraged to contribute ideas and outlooks on the various aspects of the organization. Such an environment creates a fruitful place, nurturing the creative side of the employees. Thatâs how small ideas with tremendous potential skyrocket the inventiveness and innovation of the organization.
Most companies today ignore this good practice and believe in dominance. This attitude, in turn, impedes the progress of the company because the senior management views creativity as an enemy of progression.
We believe in a completely different philosophy and encourage our employees to be more creative and thus, contribute more. This not only boosts the cumulative team performance but also serves as a medium of learning orientation for every employee.
Why A Strong Work Culture Is Important?
Thereâs a reason why companies that are named as âBest Places to Workâ see so much success. These organizations tend to have strong, positive corporate cultures that help employees feel their best at work and perform better.
In a study conducted by CultureIQ, researchers found that employeesâ overall ratings of their companyâs qualities â including collaboration, environment, and values â are 20% higher at companies that exhibit a strong work culture.
Our work culture is nurtured by the means of training, certification, or course cost for the employees. This, in turn, results in an ever-learning attitude in the employees, translating into an undeviating pursuit of learning that employees cultivate towards their steady improvement.
âWe are willing to give up the good for the great and not only understand the clients' needs but go a step further to understand their customers. Thus, we are always striving towards providing the best and future-ready solutions for our clients,â Chan concludes.
